How it works
Sum your zakatable assets, subtract short-term debts. If the remainder meets or exceeds the gold nisab (85 g) after a full Hijri year, Zakat is 2.5%.
Formula
Zakat = (assets − debts) × 0.025, only if at or above nisab.
Worked example
Assets SAR 200,000 − debts SAR 20,000 = SAR 180,000; Zakat = SAR 4,500.

- What is nisab?
- The minimum amount on which Zakat is due — equal to the value of 85 g of gold.
- Is salary subject to Zakat?
- Only on savings from salary that remain for a full Hijri year.
- Does it include real estate?
- Personal home: no. Property held for resale: yes, at market value.
